Quick Bio:

Food, attention, stuffed toys, and most of all running loose around the neighborhood.

Not being able to get loose.

Favorite Toy:
He used to hate squeaky toys, but has since learned to love them. His favorite toy tends to be anything stuffed. He doesn't destroy his toys like some dogs, but if a toy does get a tear in it he finds it fun to pull the stuffings out.

Favorite Food:
The prey model raw diet! It's real dog food, becayse dogs were designed to eat raw meat, bones, and organs. Whatever anyone may say against it, it's worked wonderfully for us. The proof is in the pudding, folks. We have no plans of going back to kibble.

Favorite Walk:
Anywhere he can do lots of smelling, marking, and running.

Best Tricks:
He knows 23 at this time. His best tricks are spinning and posing. His favorite trick to do is "which one?", where he has to guess which hand his treat is in. He tries to cheat by puting both paws on both hands.

Arrival Story:
We were looking for a second dog and wanted a Sheltie, so we checked the animal shelter and paper ads weekly. After a few months the shelter had a Sheltie mix and we ended up going to see him. The next thing we knew we were signing adoption papers.

Treader's actual birthday is unknown, but we celebrate it on his "Gotcha Day". We do know pretty much for certain that he was born sometime around 2005-ish. Treader is a very easygoing little guy in general, but he does have a crazy side. He gets along with just about everybody, including, in most cases, other dogs. He learns pretty quickly, too. More photos of my dogs can be seen in my dA gallery. (Be warned that dA is not a family-friendly site. However, I promise that my gallery is family friendly.) Also, see our website.

Not sure if anyone can read this. I know the site is experiencing bad fleas right now.

Treader's back home and safe. Him being gone was quite a scare. Despite being tight on money right now, when we got him back I went and got him a microchip.

Treader's always been good at getting loose and we've always been worried that something would happen to him. He'd be incredibly easy to steal--he's jumped right into people's cars before. And there's always the possibility he could get hurt or run over.
But as he kept getting loose and returning on his own or people called and told us they found him, it just got to be something we got used to.

But now he's been gone since Tuesday morning--he's never been away this long before! A neighbor says she saw him Tuesday evening, that's the last I've heard of him.

Checked the animal shelter, went there in person to see the strays just to be sure, but he wasn't there. Called the vet's office, too. Nothing.

If seen, please contact me at He was last seen in Saint Marys, Camden County, GA.

Treader's 'birthday'

Well, the little fuzzball is approximately six years old. He was about two when I got him.
He's changed a bit. He's a bit more laid back, not quite as skinny. I miss the zoomies he used to get. He still gets them, but they're not the same as they used to be. He still loves to run around outside. Little guy really needs a big, open, but enclosed, space to run around in. Too bad we don't have one.
And as far as not being as skinny, I think this is both due to his frame having filled out a bit more and the fact that he gets more table scraps than he used to. Cookie was our main scrap eater, but since she died Treader wanted to take her place. And of course he can't eat nearly as much as she could. I'm having to adjust the size of his meals as we go to avoid more weightgain (and he is on a diet as well), and he only gets a few scraps.

I had actually forgotten it was his birthday until I got the e-mail from Dogster. I had planned to buy him some rabbit from the grocery store as his birthday present. Looks like he'll be getting that a day or two late this year. I'll also get him a frozen feeder mouse in case he doesn't like the rabbit.

Happy birthday, you fuzzy goofball!
