.Ben Stein: Having a Hard Year? Get a a Dog
We’ve written about Ben Stein’s feelings about the benefit of sharing your life with a dog before. Here on CBS he flat-out suggests that if you’re having a hard, stressful, confusing year … get a dog. “all of life is better with a dog” he says. And he’s right.

Thank you Ben Stein. But let’s not forget, dogs need a little more that love. There is more to being a good dog owner than love and hugs, and all potential dog owners should be aware of this. Depending on the breed, your dog could need between 30 and 90 minutes of exercise each day!
Moral: research the breed and be sure you can commit to the dog’s needs prior to rescuing or purchasing any dog.
He’s right you know. Of course one must be practical, think of expenses and if you really do have time to have a dog. But if you do, by all means, get one. Go to your local dog shelter and get a friend there. He’ll love you his entire life, won’t judge you and simply be your pride and joy. No money can buy that.
