when I try to subscribe to be informed immediately of any further pet food recalls?
Hi Jean,
The reason you get that is because a RSS News Feed is best read via feed reading software. It’s made to be portable, but for software that is made for reading feeds, not the human eye.
If you just want to read it you should use this URL:

I wrote an intro to RSS feed on the Dogster site:

I hope this helps
“The latest disaster of the contaminated food coming from overseas, being processed by Menu Food in Canada and sold to over 60 brands of pet food has truly shocked us. The limited oversight and requirements placed on any pet food maker is so poor that it’s crucial to stay in the know. ”
I couldn’t agree more. It is crucial to stay in the know!
On that note, it’s important to understand that many of the iingredients that are accepted fare in commercial pet food are not fit for human consumption.
The Pet Food Industry doesn’t care. They are in it for your money. The FDA… well, let’s just say that the pet food industry is unregulated, for the most part.
People who do care should learn about what’s in the pet food that they buy. For example, BHA and BHT are NOT good for the health of your dogs! Sure, these ingredients preserve the food so it has a long shelf life, but it’s not good for the dog!
Just my two cents…
I couldn’t agree more with this statement “The pet industry causes animal suffering and deaths, both for the animals used to make pet food and for the animals that eat the pet food.”
We as responsible pet owners should should make sure we stand up for our pets and work to end this. If more of us made our own more dogs could be saved.
