New Dogster Interviews Online at HipMojo and Vitamin

Last week I was interviewed by the very insightful and experienced Ashkan Karbasfrooshan of Mojo Supreme. I started reading Ash’s blog HipMojo a couple months ago and appreciate his sagacious critiques of our industry, even though I first became an active reader when, on first blush, he speculated we were another pets.com flame-out in the making. He took the time to really discern what we are doing as well as what we aren’t doing, and why. He really wanted to understand how it got to where it is now both as a web community and a business.

Taking a step back, you can anticipate (and already see) tremendous numbers of social commuities spawning within niche verticals, Rheingold’s team at Dogster and Catster is to be the largest in their respective fields.

In this context, if history does repeat itself, then maybe it will be reminiscent of how MySpace inspired itself from Geocities and went on to become the largest site in the world, and not how Pets.com fared.

You can read the interview and his analysis at Hip Mojo.

There’s also a complete audio recording you can download (10Mb). Vitamin is one of the best free resources for web developers out there and it’s an honor to featured on their homepage and become a permanent inclusion to their resource library.

And a special big WOOF congrats to Vitamin for taking home the 2007 SXSW Award for Best Educational Resource site.
