eTech Conference

I’m at the eTech Conference for a couple days barking it up for Dogster. It’s a joy being here as there are over 1,000 geek-minded folks exploring every nook and crany of the web’s current potential.

I’ve written about day one on my personal blog. Entry 1. Entry 2.

I have to share one conversation I had:

Mark Graham: Ted, did you get bought today?
Ted: No. That’s quite a rumor, we even posted to our company blog that we are not being acquired.
Ted: Wow! I’m shocked at how casually you asked me that.
Mark Graham: Well, we got bought yestersday.

[Mark has worked for 8 years for iVillage, which had infact been purchased by NBC Universal yesterday. Mark said he had seen the stock as high as $130 and as low as $.16. Congrats Mark.]

We were on the plane with Chris Messina, who had just give his presentation on Flock. If tech culture is going bedouin, then Southwest Airlines (and JetBlue) could be considered our camels. Matt Haughey reflects on his eTech experience. Ted Rheingold chats about getting bought with iVillage’s Mark Graham. And Regine at We Make Money Not Art is intrigued by Danah Boyd’s concept of ‘glocalization.’ The thing I’m mad to have missed was the Roomba Chicken Fights put on by Phillip Torrone. [...]
